RULE NUMBER 4: Avoid food products that contain high-fructose corn syrup.
Avoid HFCS not because it's any worse for you than sugar but because it is a reliable marker for a food product that is highly processed. Also it is being added to hundreds and hundreds of foods that have not traditionally been sweetened---like breads, condiments and many many snack foods---so if you cut down on it you will cut down on your sugar intake. But be careful of the food industry's latest scam: products reformulated to contain "no HFCS or "real cane sugar". The claims are that they are "healthier". Not necessarily, sugar is sugar....
The main reason I am avoiding HFCS is because of the way it is metabolized in the body...seriously leading to type 2 diabetes, heart disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease! Metabolic Dangers of High-Fructose Corn Syrup
That's it for today.....I'm off to try a new recipe....spaghetti squash with chicken and veggies! I'm sure it will be interesting.
ciao til tomorrow!

Yes! I have been doing this as much as possible lately! I was reading up on "clean eating" and this was definitely on the list of things to avoid. It's hard when it is in so much!
