Well today is my favorite day of the year....it has so many memories. Not being super duper religious I did not attend services this morning...but I did reflect upon the day before I jumped out of bed. I couldn't sleep so I've been up since 4:30......
That means I'll crash around 7 LOL!
Yesterday I started out early too.....I hit Meijer by 7:30 then Karen and I went to Bay City. I HAD to get the kielbasa from Larrys....Easter won't be the same without it. They were out of lamb butters and horseradish!!!!!!! I told them that was sacriligous! The young dude just laughed. Then we hit 3 other bakeries/stores trying to find the lamb butter. One nice lady suggested Kramers in the deep southend. She even called there so we didn't have to make a special trip.....little did she know it was on our way back to Saginaw anyways. I was so happy that they had a few left. I haven't been in that neck of BC if forever....maybe 20 years!
I baked the cake and Nancy boiled eggs...then we decorated them. What a full Saturday.
I'm making my moms Easter soup, mmmmmm. We call it "borscht" I think the official/real name is "Zurek"http://www.recipezaar.com/57703 Mine is almost exactly like this...except for the cream. We'll have ham, kielbasa, hashbrown casserole and greenbean casserole too. Everytime I open the fridge the kielbasa smell wafts thru the kitchen. We usually eat all this for lunch/brunch....but with the nieces working today, I decided to do it later so they can come over.
The bunny cake turned out cute. Always does LOL.
Have a GLORIOUS EASTER!
